General Information
- What do I do if I (or someone I reside with or have been in close contact with) have tested positive for COVID-19?
- Notify OHS immediately, (717)-948-8880. Do not report to the workplace.
- What do I do if I feel sick and believe I have COVID-19?
- First, if you feel sick, please stay home. Consistent with current company policy, call the Exelon Absence Management System at 1-877-7EXELON (1-877-739-3566). They will notify OHS.
- If you develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath, you should call ahead to a healthcare professional and mention your symptoms. Calling when you first have symptoms will help your healthcare provider decide if you need to be tested for COVID-19 and take precautions to keep others from getting sick.
- If you have had close contact with someone showing these symptoms, you should call ahead to a healthcare professional and mention your close contact. Your healthcare professional will work with your state’s public health department and CDC to determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19.
- What should I do if I don't feel sick, but think I might have been exposed to COVID-19?
- If you are not working remotely and believe you may have been exposed to or come into contact with someone who has been exposed to COVID-19, please immediately contact OHS at (717)-948-8880 and your supervisor.
- If you are not at a work location when you are exposed or come into contact with someone who has been exposed, do not report to a work location until you have been cleared to do so by OHS. Contact your supervisor who will work with OHS.
- What are the signs and symptoms of COVID-19?
- Fever
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath
- When contacting the site OHS, if they do not answer leave a message, they will return your call.
Possible Sequester Information
- Per page 9 of the contract Section 2, Part A, after the first shift all time would be paid at time and one half plus an additional 5 hours of straight time on all opposite shifts.
- TMI has emergencies supplies of cots, sleeping bags, etc. however, if it was up to me I would consider preparing my own personal items and air mattress. Things you want and bring along may be more comfortable and make sleeping better. We will provide sleeping areas and not be lumped together in a group. Also, if you do sequester remember things like personal medications or prescriptions.
- We would develop a transition for those on site back to a normal schedule.
- When we sequester, others at home would not be coming in to work to relieve Officers here. We would not risk the potential at that time.
- The notice given to us is unforeseen at this time. It would depend on how the virus hit. Maybe it just hits other sites and the fleet decides to enact the sequester as a precaution. Figure on 1-3 days’ notice.
- The site would provide food and drink however for those who prefer certain foods or those of us who like the nicotine should plan accordingly
- We are allowing campers. I cannot guarantee power to all campers, all the time but there are load centers in the north and the south lots.
- I am looking at rooms for people. I have learned from OE and will only sequester with each person having their own room with a door. I have secured SOB, Security building and NOB 2nd floor. There are 61 rooms in those areas that we can use for sleeping quarters.
- There are food options were are pursuing. The best possible scenario is that Canteen provides hot meals for sequestered persons multiple times a day. They committed to the ability to do this for 100 people. We are also considering another company for a similar approach plus cooking on site using grills and the maintenance kitchen in addition to having non=perishable food stores and snacks.

Q&A with Management
- What is the criteria that is needed to start the sequester? There is seems to be a magic number of 10%, is this call-offs or people with the illness? If we are waiting until we reach a 10% call-off rate there is a good chance that anyone sequestered would already be exposed in some way.
- There is no defined criteria yet. Exelon Nuclear is working on a standardized criteria for the entire fleet. I saw a draft yesterday and the criteria for sequestering was very high (mandatory road closures etc.). Keep in mind that was just a draft but I expect the criteria to remain high because unless we have the ability to test everyone we could be exposing MORE people to COVID-19 (and not know it) if we would sequester.
- If we are being required to participate in the COVID-19 screening prior to shift, will each Officer be paid for their time as well as shift differential as stated in our CBA, Article 9, Section 2, Paragraph E?
- My opinion is no. The screening should not take more than a few minutes (answer 2 questions and have your temperature taken). I view it no differently than going through the MAF access prior to reporting to work. Also were doing this to ensure our essential workers are kept safe. I will review this question with HR and let you know if they have a different interpretation.
- If Officers need to be quarantined at their home, will they be using STO time and STD or with there be a 2 week quarantine pay like other businesses are doing?
- If you are instructed by OHS to quarantine you would be paid “Pay continuation” for up to 14 calendar days. Pay continuation is defined as pay at your regular straight time rate. After the 14 days you would use STO time and then STD.3.
- If the screening is going to start Monday morning, March 23rd how are Officers on Delta and Charlie teams being notified about this and that they may need to adjust their arrival time?
- Currently the target implementation is Tuesday March 24th however that could change pull up/push back as the company works through the details on how to implement. Our goal is to streamline the pre-access screening such that no one would have to alter their arrival times. We will send out a site wide communication prior to implementation. My opinion is I don’t think we need to call officers at home to let them know we are implementing this but if you feel differently please let me know.
- Based on the screening, if an Officer is being sent home how are they being compensated? How many hours are they being compensated for each day? What is the process to return to work?
- If you are sent home you will be paid at your normal pay rate. OHS will contact you to ask some follow up questions. OHS will make the final determination on when you return to work. This could be based on answering questions or they may potentially need to see you. The pay continuation (up to 14 days) would apply if we are telling you to stay home.
- There is some concern over the possible wording of the questions asked during the screening process. Some Officers feel the questions are loaded as they can not be sure about any contact due to the long incubation period of this virus. Would it be possible to change the wording to; "To the best of your knowledge have you been in contact with anyone with COVID-19?"
- The questions for screening have been reduced to 1. The question will be very specific and should not need a prompting like " to the best of my knowledge". I would think people answer all questions to the best of their knowledge if it's not a simple yes or no answer.
- If a Shelter in Place order is given or something similar that would restrict travel would we recieve anything (i.e. waiver form or something similar) to prove we are essential personnel? If have had issues in the past during state of emergencies due to weather conditions where Officers were stopped on their way to work and were informed they had to return home.
- We will check in the with Pennsylvania State Police to double check but if we are stopped we are required to show our protected area badge and inform the police that we work at the island and are essential personnel for regulatory required duties.
- A letter has been issued that identifies us as essential personnel, if a situation like this were to occur, present that letter and your badge as proof.
