Thursday, Union leadership met with the Company via phone regarding the schedule change. The Company stated that they unequivocally could not allow a schedule to go forward that is seniority based, despite what the seniority section of the CBA states.
They alleged that they need to be able to have more senior officers on each crew and also specifically mentioned females and military personnel. The Company stated they didn't want any "heat" from the NRC if there were not enough senior (experienced) officers on each crew, despite the fact that they haven't specifically asked the NRC about this scenario. Their formal last, best and final counter proposals will be submitted to the Local sometime this week, but they are unofficially as follows: 1) The current crews would stay the same with one crew assigned to permanent days, one assigned to permanent nights and the other two would continue the current rotation. 2) Personnel would pick their top two or three options and management would then select who would be on each crew and shift. We continue to reject these options and insist on a seniority based system and an improved quality of life.
